Comment: I am so lucky I have been to Myrtle Beach. It’s on my list of places to go again. My husband lost his Oakley sunglasses in the surf and I still wonder where it ended up 😅 My husbands sister lives in Anderson and we used to have family in Greenville. I couldn’t believe how inexpensive you could get a room right on the beach. I got to go to my first real flea market! Thank you for sparking joy with this gorgeous card. I would live there but I’m scared of cockroaches 🤣

Comment: I was disappointed to see that you sent an ad card with not one word of commentary from you. I often I often type my responses, but nothing on the card was composed by you. I actually found the book online, since it sounded interesting, and was shocked to see that every word in it was taken from the publisher's description. It's not nitpicking to expect you to follow the swap rules.
PM'd to give you a chance to follow the instructions but you declined to do it. I have to admit I was stunned at how indifferent you were about following the swap rules and being a good swapper, even when given another chance!
Response: I just want anyone reading this to know that Carol is nitpicking the rules of a swap. I sent her a card about a state park with information about that park. She dislikes that it wasn't handwritten. I would have rated the same card a 5.

Comment: I'm sorry but I looked and looked and finally found a picture of the box this came from. And even with that I still could not see where the Skeleton with a ranger outfit represents anything that starts with L as the box said Voodoo Ranger IPA

Response: Yes, tricksters are wonderful companions! Lovely to hear from a like minded soul. I read American Gods as a very young adult, when Paganism was still a pale idea in the back of my head. I was fascinated by the story and I liked the writing, but now I'm not sure I love the characterizations of some figures. I should revisit it with my newer eyes.

Comment: What a cute card! I love the penguins! Did you use a typewriter? I had my first typing class in Jr high on a typewriter. I didn't realize people still use them. I loved your sentiment about the returning sun. Today we only have 8 1/2 hours of sunlight. My husband went to work in the dark and will get home after the sun has set.
Response: Yes, it's an electric model typewriter. I have a manual one as well. By the time I learned typing, we were using computers, so I'm still not very good with them. But I love the sound and the visual effect. I'm so happy you liked the card :)

Comment: I absolutely adored this postcard! What a treat. Do you know what decade it might have come from (it was the one from the Boone Tavern Hotel in Berea, KY, showing a "vintage" hotel lobby.) How do you find vintage postcards? And your obviously beautiful typewritten note was a treat! I could not stop talking to my (unimpressed) children about how much I loved getting this in the mail today.
Response: When I lived in KY, I went antique shopping in Johnson City, Tennessee. I think that's probably where I bought that card. Nearly every antique store has a box of them shoved somewhere though. Sometimes, there overpriced. A good price is around or below 1.50. I only pay more than that if something is really nice. I have no idea how old the card is. I'm glad you liked it :)

Comment: Love the coloring paper you used for the letter! I'm a former English teacher, and I have to say that I've never much cared for Wuthering Heights either. I grew to appreciated it, but I much prefer Jane Eyre. Much stronger female character!

Response: Typewriters are so much less distracting than computers and they look beautiful, when your not using them. I do hope you get one. I came on mine in a thrift shop and got it for decoration price, since they thought it didn’t work. It just needed a few pokes, they’re fairly simple machines.

I always try to use a KY quarter, when I write to someone new from out of the country, if I have one lying around. I'll happily send you some other coins, if you like. With washi and a sturdy card, it's easy enough to hide a few. I'll be pleased to hear from you :)

Response: It is a real typewriter. A gift from my fiancé, when we were antiqueing a few years back. It a non-electric and still had it's old ribbon. We used printer ink to revive it. I use it for nearly all my letters and cards now and also on my rough draft. I'm glad you liked it. I adore it :) <3

My rec for some gloomier books, by which I take it to mean gothic romantic suspense...(big house, distressed and confused maiden, often by the sea on a tall cliff...) Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier and Woman in White by Wilkie Collins are 2 of my all-time favorite classic GRS novels
