Hello swappers! This community means so much to me, it has followed me through 3 different mailing addresses. I love sending out mail as the compilation is so grounding, and receiving mail feels like an act of being loved.
I am 4 years into farming on my little 15 acres within city limits. What a learning curve! Who knew we would have emus (we rescued another 2 this week). With this mild winter, they actually started dropping some eggs last month. Dark green beauties, those eggs. And highland cows. My favorite is Growler, the bull, and also Betty the cow who just loves being massaged. The cultivated gardens on this property are lovely. My husband and I have managed to rent the grounds as a wedding venue right through Summer 2026. this year we are hosting a big community based Cinqo de Mayo Fiesta!! We also have 2 Air BNB’s on the farm; it is like travelling without leaving home, we meet so many interesting people. You wouldn’t know it but we have had an elevator repair guy here for a while.
I enjoy new places and most recently have visited Ireland and Sayulita, Mexico. In the fall, we will visit the Spirit Bear region in Bella Bella, BC, and in November, Bali. Some of the most interesting international places I have been are: Orinoco delta in Venezuela; Greenland; Iceland; Channel Islands; Varanasi, India; Cappadocia; El Salvador & Nicaragua; Haida Gwaii; Japan; Hawaii; Laos & Cambodia.
Things that I enjoy: Anything wacky or black humor Friendship Booklets/Sheets Pass Along Things Found things - off the street Natural things ATC’s Artsy ephemera Nature, wild lands, hiking, foraging, essential oils Cooking recipes, snacks, teas Social innovation Mythology, history, world affairs Literary Fiction My husband and his relentless brainstorming and business endeavours Friendships - mini adventures with friends - recently we foraged wild bog cranberries, bought consignment clothes, attended a wild life conservation dinner.
Wish List: Thrift/previously worn earrings, necklaces, brooches Vintage postcards and other postcards including ad cards - my favorite vintage cards are pre-1950, the older the better - themes for cards: roadside attractions, indigenous, maps, funny, marketing, castles, people, signs of the times Stickers, washi, bling (just not glitter format:-) B&W vintage photos Date of first issue stamped envelopes ATCs Friendship Books & Pass Along Things Seeds Bookmarks Return address labels. Postage stamps - new or used Coins Low denomination paper money Stationery, note paper, rice paper, washi, stickers Any junk that might be used in assembling art Ephemera
I don't care for cutesy/girlie things. All childish stuff I receive thru swaps gets taken to the Little Free library so kids can hopefully use them. I am not religious but still appreciate religious aesthetics.
Some of the best things I have ever received through swap-bot swaps are: disco globe clip on earrings, art by Cara Williams, a petrified clam, a feather from a great horned owl, ATC’s, foreign coins, quills, Greek magnet, needlepoint, cat teeth from a humane shelter (strange but I’ll take it! Haha), photos of someone’s hamster, a hand-made anti-racism booklet with illustrations. Thank-you!!!! I love this community and its connections. I have met a few penpals (from Austria, Ukraine and Surinam) and love doing so. If you are planning a penpalling weekend, by all means invite me - with notice, I will come do a group of fellow mail pals.
Happy swapping. If anyone is nuts enough to send me a shoebox of junk (castaway stuff), I will do the same for you. Shoe boxes filled to the brim always intrigue me!!

Welcome to the Paper Secrets Society!
Thank you so much for the great surprise! No one has ever sent me something in return for a swap. You really made my week with your kind gesture. I will pay it forward.
