October 5-11 is Banned Books Week in the USA. Let's get ready for that by reading at least one banned book in September!

Choose any banned book - there are lots of lists available online, and you can use any you find. This list is supposed to be the current list of challenged books, but use any list you wish.

Read - or listen to - your chosen banned book. In a note, letter or note card, tell your partner which book you chose, including the author, and if you liked the book or not. If you can find why it was banned, feel free to include that and what you think of that reason for banning the book. You can also add a review, or your thoughts on banned / challenged books.

Questions? Comments? Concerns? Please send me a PM! I will respond as soon as I can. I won't see messages left below.

You must belong to the Reading & Writing Group in order to join this swap.

The Ellen Hopkins books are amazing! I'm thinking of reading her latest. Basically all of her books are challenged due to the content around mental health and substance use/abuse.

@colleenbUSA - yeah, no kidding, don't want to read about that pesky mental health and real topics! :( I can't think of a reason to ban or challenge any book, but the "I just don't like the topic" is a bone-headed reason to keep others from reading it. I mean, maybe books should just come with up front trigger warnings. SIgh... Anyway, I'll look for that author. :)
