My friend said "We sold Alabama to the Russians" the other night -and I knew she was joking... but... then I thought, you know, I feel like that could actually happen right now, which is a strange feeling. All things that I never thought could happen HERE in the US... they're happening. It is not too far fetched to think we are on the brink of a revolution/ civil war/ military overthrow of the government/ world war / nuclear winter/ apocalyse... ? Is someone going to come knocking at my door and round me up because I'm on some sort of list? It doesn't seem far off... haha this is a bizarre comment... but when I read your note I wanted to say you're not alone...

Comment: Hello! Sorry rate is a little late but ever since the semester started I've been so busy with my classes, sigh. Anyways thank you for the adorable frog notecard (I now have it sitting at my desk where I can stare at it because the frog is so cute). All the small extras were amazing thank you so much. At the time I got the notecard (lol it's been so long) it was pouring down HARD. There were a few days where I'd get to my car from class soaking wet! But the rain is gone for now here and I know I'll soon miss it. hope all is going well and hopefully we meet again somehow one here :) happy swapping!

Comment: A kitten postcard! Yay! So it's also stupidly cold in Pennsylvania this weekend with a high of around 20 degrees. Drinking water is a shared resolution. I was doing really well with it earlier in 2016 and fell off the (water) wagon. Definitely easier if you've got a large-capacity water bottle or a Yeti tumbler. Thanks for the card and message!

I actually do not remember having read The Tale of Two Bad Mice, but I do remember admiring Ms. Potter's gorgeous illustrations as a little kid :) I will have to revisit her oeuvre! Happy weekend and semi-finals watching -- I was bummed that Jodie and Wanya were sent home :( Ginger isn't bad, but she doesn't seem to have the same "wow" factor as the other two. I was rooting for Nyle all season, but Paige was AMAZING in that peacock samba trio -- I felt like I was watching something in a movie musical :)

The Descent Series sounds cool -- I also like fantasy/sci-fi/paranormal but haven't read that genre in awhile. I just started The Exchange of Princesses by Chantal Thomas, a historical fiction in the 1720s, just as ideas of what childhood should be are changing, about the double arranged marriage of eleven-year-old Louis XV to the three-year-old Infanta of Spain and eleven-year-old Mlle Montpensier (daughter of the Duc d'Orléans, the Regent of France who brokered these political unions) to the fourteen-year-old heir to the Spanish throne -- and how nothing goes right. I am only a chapter in, but I agree with two of the critics' compliments that the writing is "Delicious like childhood, cruel like life," and that readers will devour it "like a fairy tale." Even in translation from the French, it's incisive, descriptive, witty, and engaging. Hope you are having a good weekend!

I'm a shy person too, so I completely understand the quote about not letting fear keep you from doing the things you love. I used to do Ali Edwards' One Little Word project and for 2015 my word was DARE for that exact reason. But I fear (lol) that I get worse about this as I get older.
